First edition. Two octavo volumes (9 x 5 5/8 inches; 226 x 144 mm). xiv, [2], [1]-484, [2, publisher's ads]; viii, [1]-596, [1, errata], [4, publisher's ads] pp. With half-titles in each volume. Errata page in volume two cropped at the top 2 7/8 inches and 3 3/4 inches at the bottom.
Original quarter blue-green pebbled cloth over drab grey boards. Printed paper label on the spine. Uncut and partially unopened. Some light foxing throughout. Boards lightly rubbed and corners a bit bumped. Front outer hinge of volume two with a 2 inch split at the top. Back outer hinge of volume two with a 2 3/4 inch split at bottom, inner part of that hinge cracked. Previous owner's old ink signature on front free endpaper of both volumes. Very good.
