Two parts in one folio volume. Greek and Roman types, Greek texts in double columns. Estienne's device on title page, leaf Cc2v reading "278" for 288, final blank present; one small wormhole extending through first eight leaves.

Contemporary limp vellum, yapp edges, early manuscript title and shelf mark on spine. Housed in a modern green cloth chemise and slipcase.

A digest of speeches from the works of Greek and Latin historians and intended as an oratorical manual. Estienne supplied most of the Latin translations of the Greek texts, which were selected from Herodotus, Thucydides, Xenophon, Polybius, Arrian and Herodian. The Roman historians include Sallust, Livy, Tacitus, Quintus Curtius, and Ammianus Marcellinus.
