Second edition of Joseph Smith's revision of the Bible, often called the "Inspired Version." Thick twelvemo. 917, 286 pp. Original brown pebbled cloth, gilt-stamped spine. Front hinge repaired with tape, first 3 leaves with marginal tape repair, rear hinge split but sound, previous owner's contemporary inscription on front free endpaper, cloth with light wear. A very good copy.
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints lacked the funds to publish Joseph's revision until after his death. The first edition was printed in Plano, Illinois in 1867. This, second edition has an identical title page to that of the first edition with the absence of Plano, Illinois and was possibly published in Lamoni, Iowa in 1882.
