Modern quarter maroon morocco over marbled boards. Front board with morocco label, lettered in gilt. Label misdated 1623. Occasional very light spotting. Previous owner's old ink marks on top margin of page seventeen, not affecting text. Overall very good.
King John was first published as part of the First Folio of 1623. A separate edition of this play was not published until 1655 (see Jaggard, p. 350). This play was presumably written in the early 1590s. The principle source was Holinshed’s Chronicles.
