"The Dolphin was sent to the Mulgrave Islands to rescue any survivors of the mutiny on board the Nantucket whaler Globe. On the return voyage the ship stopped at Hawaii, the first United States warship to visit those islands. Paulding incorporated a brief account of the Globe mutiny written by William Lay, one of the two survivors." (Howell 52-153).
