Contemporary full paneled speckled calf. Board edges gilt. Edges speckled red. Outer front joint just starting at top of spine. Boards rubbed. Spine with small sticker at head. Head of spine slightly chipped. Some minor staining to bottom edge of preliminaries. Previous owner Skene Library's bookplate on front pastedown. Overall a very good copy.

Boerhaave (1668-1738), "a member of the faculty of medicine at the University of Leiden, exerted an enormous influence upon the teaching and practice of medicine in Europe. He is credited with systematizing medical knowledge, synthesizing the older Greek medical heritage with the discoveries of the seventeenth century to build a comprehensive contemporary medical doctrine" (Norman Library 255, describing the 1708 first edition of Boerhaave’s Institutiones medicæ).
