One of 525 numbered copies on handmade paper, out of a total edition of 533 copies, signed by the illustrator, this being number 423. Quarto (10 x 7 inches; 252 x 178 mm). 312, [2] pp. With engraved title and eleven engraved plates, including tail-piece. Decorative woodcut initials.
Original full vellum by Leighton-Straker. Covers double ruled and decoratively stamped in gilt with grape corner motifs and a fox central device. Spine stamped and lettered in gilt. Top edge gilt, others uncut. Marbled endpapers. Very minimal offsetting from the plates. Small bookseller’s ticket on front pastedown. A near fine copy. In the original marbled board slipcase with printed paper label on spine, with matching limitation number. Slipcase slightly worn and toned.
