Octavo (8 3/4 x 5 3/4 inches; 220 x 145 mm). xvi, 521, [1, blank], [2, advertisements], [32, publisher's catalog] pp. With 129 illustrations including frontispiece, a folding chart, a large color folding map in the pocket at the end, and numerous black-and-white photos taken by the author.
Publisher's full red cloth. Front board and spine lettered in gilt. Front board ruled in black and stamped with an image in black. Top edge gilt, others untrimmed. Red coated endpapers. Some rubbing to cloth ling edges of boards and spine. Two previous owner's bookplates o front pastedown. Some occasional very light foxing. Large folding map is very clean and bright with just a few small splits at creases and some toning to backside. Overall a very good copy.
