With the binding in Toole-Stott state ii (Title on spine in gilt, and author and publisher in black), but with no priority given to the three states. With the earlier state of advertisements. Title-page in red and black. With four illustrated plates in black-and-white, including frontispiece.
Publisher's full gray cloth. Front board pictorially stamped in black, white, green and gilt, with a rider on a white horse, with a palazzo on the hill behind and a gilt sky. Spine lettered in gilt and black. Top edge dyed gray. Spine slightly sunned. Still a near fine copy.
