Folio (12 x 8 1/8 inches; 305 x 205 mm). 369 pp. Wood-engraved title by Reynolds Stone and 114 woodcut illustrations by Bruno Bramanti (except for the last eight, which were cut after his death by his pupil Italo Zetti) after Bartolomeo di Giovanni’s originals for the Epistole et Evangelii (Florence, 1495). Printed in Zeno type on Magnani handmade paper. English text from the Authorized, or King James, version of the Bible.
Original dark red oasis morocco stamped in gilt on front cover and spine. Top edge gilt, others uncut. Spine lightly sunned. A fine copy. In the original cloth-covered cardboard slipcase with red morocco tips.
The magnum opus of the press, and one of the best editions of the Bible published this century, ranking with the Doves and Golden Cockerel editions.
