First trade edition. Large quarto (10 7/8 x 8 5/8 inches; 277 x 217 mm.). [18], 128, [2], [1, printer's imprint], [1, blank] pp. Thirty color plates (including frontispiece) mounted on vellum-like paper, with tissue guards. Mounts printed in black with descriptive letterpress and decorative border. Cover design, inserted title, five head-pieces, and one tail-piece, all designed by Dulac.
Original red morocco-grain cloth. Covers decoratively paneled in gilt with four different cupid designs in the corners, front cover lettered in gilt, spine lettered and decoratively stamped in gilt in compartments with four cupid designs. Edges very lightly rubbed. Some light foxing and toning to endpapers. Still a near fine copy.
This volume of stories includes "The Sleeping Beauty," "Blue Beard," "Cinderella," and "Beauty and the Beast."
